Little Samson (Japanese: Seirei Densetsu Lickle) is a 1992 FC action game developed by Takeru and published by Taito. Renowned for its stunning graphics, diverse gameplay, and unique character-switching system, it is hailed as a late-era FC classic.
Set in a kingdom threatened by the demon lord Ta-Keed, the game follows four heroes: human boy Little Samson, dragon girl Kikira, stone golem Gamm, and mouse K.O. Each has unique abilities: Samson excels at climbing and throwing bells; Kikira can fly briefly and breathe fire; Gamm is slow but powerful and walks on spikes; K.O. has the lowest health but fastest speed, scaling walls and ceilings while throwing bombs.
At the start, players complete each character’s exclusive stage to master their controls and skills. The four heroes then team up to defeat the demon lord, with players able to switch characters anytime to tackle different enemies and terrain. Boasting 20 stages with branching paths and challenging boss fights, the game boosts strategic depth and replay value.
Little Samson received widespread acclaim upon release, praised by players and critics for its polished visuals, smooth controls, and innovative character-switching mechanic. Though poor marketing in North America led to low sales, its high quality has made it a sought-after collector’s item and a beloved FC platform classic.
