Ninja JajaMaru: Ninja Skill Book is a 1989 RPG developed by Jaleco for the Nintendo Famicom. As the third entry in the Ninja JajaMaru series, it marks the franchise’s first shift from action games to RPG gameplay.
The game features three standalone chapters where levels and items do not carry over, requiring players to start fresh each time. Clearing all three chapters unlocks a final chapter, where players can carry over stats and items from the last chapter to continue their adventure.
The story follows JajaMaru, who returns from training after rescuing Princess Sakura. He accepts a mission from the lord to resolve three crises: stolen ninja scrolls taken by a tengu, yokai attacks on Edo’s streets, and a prolonged drought on Mount Ryujin. Notably, Princess Sakura is no longer a damsel in distress—she joins the adventure and fights alongside JajaMaru.
