Pinball Quest is an NES game developed by Tose and published by Jaleco in 1989. As the first RPG-style pinball game, it blends classic pinball mechanics with RPG elements and features 4 modes: story-driven RPG Mode, single-player Circus (slot machine theme) and Viva! Golf (whack-a-mole style), plus 4-player Pop! Pop!. In RPG Mode, players control a silver pinball to traverse a 6-floor castle, rescue Princess Bali imprisoned by dark lord Beezelbub, hit targets, defeat enemies, and buy upgrades like stronger flippers and bumpers on the black market. Its innovative gameplay drew attention back then; while some critics found its mixed style confusing, its unique experience is still worth trying.
