Violinist of Hameln is an action game released by Enix for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) on September 29, 1995. It is adapted from the fantasy adventure manga of the same name by Michiaki Watanabe, which was serialized in Monthly Shōnen Gangan from 1991 to 2001 with a total of 37 volumes. The game's protagonist, Hamel, is a hero who travels around carrying a large violin. In fact, he is the son of the Demon King sealed inside Pandora's Box. His violin has special powers, allowing him to defeat demons with music. During his journey, Hamel meets Flute, an orphan village girl, and takes her away from the village. The two set off together on a journey to the "Northern Capital" where the Demon King resides. In the game, players control Hamel and Flute, attacking enemies by playing music or controlling Flute to fight. The game features clever level design, rich character movements and expressions, and faithfully restores the settings of the original manga. Notably, the game recreates the scene from the original where Hamel makes Flute lose her temper with his violin music, adding to the game's fun. Due to its long gameplay but lack of save or password features, the game was criticized by some players at the time. However, for players now using emulators for nostalgia, this is no longer an issue. Overall, Violinist of Hameln, with its unique gameplay and humorous style, has become an unforgettable memory for many players.
