George Foreman's KO Boxing is a 1992 sports boxing game published by Acclaim Entertainment, starring legendary heavyweight champion George Foreman. It launched on multiple platforms including SNES, Sega Genesis, Game Boy, NES, Master System and Game Gear. Players control 43-year-old George Foreman, aiming to unify three fictional boxing organizations' title belts by defeating a series of opponents and become the undisputed heavyweight champion. The game uses a third-person perspective, allowing players to block attacks, dodge in different directions and throw various punches. Wins can be achieved via KO, TKO or judge's decision. In the 16-bit versions, each boxer's portrait is displayed on the interface, gradually becoming bruised and swollen as the match progresses based on damage taken. A password system saves career mode progress. However, the game did not receive widespread positive reviews upon release. Mega magazine commented, "Bad gameplay and poor graphics make this one to avoid." James Beaven of Total! even stated, "Worse than wrestling games." Super Play gave it a 18% score, criticizing the lack of opportunities to dodge punches, limited protagonist movement and unsatisfactory graphics, concluding: "A useless boxing game, set to be one of the worst SNES games ever made." Still, the game holds certain collectible and experiential value for boxing game fans and George Foreman enthusiasts.
