The Firemen is an action-adventure game developed and published by Japanese studio Human Entertainment for the Super Famicom on September 9, 1994. Played from a top-down perspective, players take on the role of firefighter Pete Grey, who teams up with partner Daniel McClean to infiltrate a burning high-tech chemical plant, extinguish fires, rescue trapped civilians, and stop the highly explosive chemical MDL from igniting.
Players primarily use two tools: an unlimited-use fire hose and a limited supply of fire bombs. The hose can fire straight water streams or close-range sprays to handle different fire types. Each level ends with a unique "Fire Boss" that requires specific strategies to defeat. Rescuing trapped civilians during gameplay will partially restore the player’s health.
The game features six levels total, with fire intensity rising over time to boost tension and challenge. Players must study the terrain and plan optimal routes to efficiently complete fire suppression and rescue missions.
Beloved by players for its unique premise and tense, thrilling gameplay, The Firemen stands out among action-adventure titles thanks to its high realism and strategic depth.
