F-1 World Grand Prix is a racing simulation game developed by Paradigm Entertainment and published by Video System. First launched on Nintendo 64 in 1998, it was later ported to Dreamcast, PlayStation, Game Boy Color and Windows. Based on the 1997 Formula One World Championship, it features all 17 tracks and 22 drivers (including 2 unlockable hidden drivers) from that season, though Jacques Villeneuve and the MasterCard Lola team are excluded due to licensing issues. It offers 5 modes: Grand Prix (full 1997 season simulation), Exhibition (single race), Time Trial (race against the clock), Challenge (recreate iconic 1997 moments, like playing as Damon Hill to win the Hungarian Grand Prix or beating Jean Alesi as David Coulthard at the Italian Grand Prix), and 2-player split-screen racing. Players can adjust car settings before races, including tire type, fuel load and wing angle. The game also simulates weather changes and their impact on races. Due to licensing issues, Williams driver Jacques Villeneuve is replaced by a nameless, customizable driver. It received positive reviews upon release and is regarded as one of the best racing simulators of its era.
