DuckTales 2 is a 1993 action-platformer developed and published by Capcom, based on the Disney animated series of the same name. It first launched on the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and was later ported to the Game Boy handheld console. Players control Scrooge McDuck on a quest to find the lost treasure of his father, Fergus McDuck. The story begins when Scrooge’s nephews discover a partial treasure map, sending Scrooge around the globe to collect the remaining map pieces. Locations include Niagara Falls, the Bermuda Triangle, the lost continent of Mu, Egypt, and Scotland, each with unique treasures and a boss guardian. The game features non-linear level design, letting players tackle stages in any order. Scrooge’s iconic cane serves as both a weapon to attack enemies and a tool to interact with the environment, such as pulling levers, firing cannons, and using spring flowers to cross gaps. New mechanics like grappling hooks and rafts add gameplay variety. Compared to its predecessor, DuckTales 2 improved gameplay and graphics, but it sold less than the first game due to a limited production run near the end of the NES lifecycle. Still a fan favorite, it was re-released on April 18, 2017, as part of *The Disney Afternoon Collection* for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
