Doom 64 is a first-person shooter developed by Midway Games and produced by id Software, first released for the Nintendo 64 in 1997. Continuing the story of Doom II, you play as the sole surviving marine, fighting demon hordes alone, hunting the Mother of Demons to stop Hell from invading Earth again.
The game features over 30 uniquely designed, challenging levels. Players must hunt for upgraded weapons and hidden secrets to boost their power and end the demon threat. Its deep combat system offers a variety of weapons — pistol, shotgun, chaingun, missile launcher, and more — each with distinct range, damage, and fire rate, requiring quick swaps for different situations. Puzzle elements are also woven in: you’ll flip various switches to unlock room mechanisms, adding fun and challenge.
In 2020, to celebrate the Doom series’ 25th anniversary, Bethesda Softworks released an enhanced version of Doom 64, making its debut on PC and other consoles. The enhanced edition improves visuals with sharper textures and more realistic lighting, refines controls (supporting keyboard/mouse and gamepads), and offers widescreen resolutions and native 60FPS for a smoother, more comfortable experience on modern platforms.
