Chinhai is a puzzle game developed by Pixel and published by Banpresto. It launched in Japan on September 22, 1995, for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). With a mahjong tile theme and Shanghai Mahjong-style gameplay plus innovative rules, it tasks players with matching and removing pairs of mahjong tiles on a flat layout. Unlike traditional Shanghai Mahjong, pairs can only be removed if connected by a line with no more than two 90-degree turns, boosting challenge and strategy. The name "Chinhai" likely comes from Zhenhai, China, following the tradition of naming mahjong games after Chinese places. Zhenhai, in Ningbo, is a historic area. Overall, Chinhai delivers a unique mahjong experience with its distinct rules and challenging gameplay.
