BlaZeon: The Bio-Cyborg Challenge is a side-scrolling shooter developed by A.I and published by Atlus. First released in arcades in 1992, it was ported to the SNES the same year. Set in a future where the Earth Empire rules with giant Bio-Cyborgs, players pilot the Garland TFF-01 fighter as a rebel pilot to free Earth. Its signature Tranquilander weapon lets players freeze, capture, and take control of enemy robots, adding strategy and variety. The SNES version cuts the arcade intro, co-op mode, some enemies/levels, and the ending, replacing it with a harder restart at identical score/lives. Overall, BlaZeon delivers a fresh take on side-scrolling shooters with its unique capture mechanic and diverse gameplay.
