3 Ninjas Kick Back is a 1994 action platformer adapted from the film of the same name. Developed by Malibu Interactive, it was released by Psygnosis and Sony Imagesoft for Sega Genesis, SNES, and Sega CD.
The game follows young ninja brothers Rocky, Colt, and Tum-Tum. Their grandfather won a mystical dagger and ancient katana 50 years prior—keys to a hidden treasure cave— but the dagger was stolen by his rival Koga. Now the elderly grandfather sends his grandsons to retrieve the precious dagger.
Players can choose any of the three brothers, each with unique weapons and skills: Rocky uses a bo staff, Colt wields a katana, and Tum-Tum fights with twin short blades. This side-scrolling game has players defeat enemies, avoid traps, and face Koga to reclaim the dagger across multiple levels.
Levels feature varied settings like forests, caves, and temples. Enemies include Koga’s rogue ninjas, wild animals such as dogs and bats, plus environmental hazards like rolling boulders and spikes. Each level ends with a miniboss, leading to a final showdown with Koga.
3 Ninjas Kick Back supports single-player and co-op multiplayer for playing with friends. With pixel art graphics, arcade-style gameplay, and rich ninja themes, it delivers a challenging and fun gaming experience.
