The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is a 1998 action-adventure game released by Nintendo for the Nintendo 64, marking the series’ first 3D entry. Developed by Nintendo EAD, it earned a perfect score from Japan’s leading gaming magazine Famitsu thanks to its outstanding design, rich puzzles, impressive 3D graphics, and immersive soundtrack. Players control protagonist Link, who adventures across the vast land of Hyrule to stop the villain Ganondorf from seizing the sacred Triforce. Blending RPG and puzzle elements, the game uses a third-person perspective, letting players wield swords, shields, throwing weapons, bombs, and magic spells. Its context-sensitive UI simplifies controls for a more intuitive experience. The game introduced the Z-targeting system, which lets players lock onto enemies or objects for easier attacks and interactions. Link can also learn and play multiple melodies on an ocarina to solve puzzles or warp to specific locations. The story spans Link’s childhood and adulthood, requiring players to switch between the two timelines to tackle different puzzles and challenges. A global hit with over 9.6 million copies sold, *Ocarina of Time* is widely hailed by critics as one of the greatest video games of all time. A 3DS remake, *The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D*, launched in 2011 with enhanced visuals, improved controls, and glasses-free 3D support.
