The Legend of Zelda 2: Link's Adventure is an action role-playing game released by Nintendo for the Famicom Disk System on January 14, 1987, and is the second entry in The Legend of Zelda series. Unlike the top-down perspective of its predecessor, it uses a side-scrolling view and incorporates RPG elements. Players control protagonist Link on a journey to save Princess Zelda, who is cursed by a sleep spell. The game introduces an experience system where Link gains XP by defeating enemies to level up his attack, magic, and life stats. Its combat system is more complex, requiring Link to adjust his defense and attack strategies based on enemies' attack patterns. It also adds a magic system: Link can learn various spells from sages in different towns to tackle all kinds of challenges. Though regarded as an oddity in the series, its innovative gameplay and systems have had a profound impact on later titles.
