Rambo is an action-adventure game released by Acclaim Entertainment for the NES in 1988. Adapted from the 1985 film *Rambo: First Blood Part II*, it lets players take on the role of John Rambo, who ventures deep into Vietnam on a mission to rescue prisoners of war. Featuring side-scrolling platform gameplay, the game pits players against various enemies and wildlife—including wasps, snakes, fish, tigers, bats, spiders, birds, apes, and flamingos—across jungles, swamps, and caves. Enemies include guards and mercenaries in different colored shirts, with color indicating their strength. Players have access to six weapons: knife, throwing knife, bow and arrow, explosive arrows, gun, and grenades. All weapons except the knife have limited ammo, which can be replenished by defeating enemies. The game also includes a complex map navigation system, where players move between areas using indicator points at the screen edges, and a password system to save progress, with passwords obtainable by talking to NPCs.
