Simple DS Series Vol. 18: The Soukou Kihei (The Armored Trooper) is an intense 2D side-scrolling action game where players pilot powerful mechs. The dual-screen setup is used effectively: the top screen displays the intense combat, while the bottom screen acts as your cockpit, showing radar, health, and weapon systems. Missions range from complete enemy annihilation to target destruction and time-sensitive hacking. The game offers extensive customization, allowing players to upgrade their mechs with over 120 different weapons and parts. With multiple story paths and a 4-player wireless battle mode, it provides a surprisingly deep experience for an entry-level budget title.
