Kirby's Adventure is a NES platform action game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, released in Japan on March 23, 1993. As the second entry in the Kirby series, it first introduced the Copy Ability system, letting Kirby absorb enemies to gain powers like Sword, Fire and Beam, greatly enriching gameplay and strategy. The story centers on the Fountain of Dreams, the source of dreams and hope for Dream Land. One day, everyone stops dreaming—King Dedede bathed in the fountain, shattered the Star Rod (the fountain’s power source) and gave the pieces to his minions. Kirby sets off on an adventure to bring back everyone’s pleasant nap time. The game also impresses with vivid colors, detailed pixel art and cute character designs, creating a vibrant dreamlike world. Its soundtrack, composed by Hirokazu Ando and Jun Ishikawa, features catchy, lively melodies that perfectly match the game’s tone. Kirby's Adventure is not only an excellent platformer, but also a milestone in the Kirby series, establishing its core gameplay and setting and exerting a far-reaching influence on later Kirby titles.
