King's Knight is a vertical scrolling shooter game developed by Square, released in Japan in 1986, North America in 1989, and re-released on Wii Virtual Console in 2007. Blending shooter and RPG elements, it lets players control four unique heroes—knight Ray Jack, wizard Kaliva, monster Barusa, and thief Toby—through stages to defeat the evil dragon and rescue kidnapped Princess Claire. Each character has unique abilities; players collect items to level up characters up to level 20. Designed by Hironobu Sakaguchi with music by Nobuo Uematsu, Square Enix launched a 2017 remake *King's Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon* supporting up to 4-player co-op, which shut down in 2018.
