Kaettekita! Gunjin Shougi - Nanya Sore! is an NES game released by Sofel in Japan on May 26, 1989. Based on traditional military shogi, it features a humorous military theme. Players can choose one of five unique opponents to battle: Pumpkin Head Ghost, Werewolf Al Capone, Alien, Adolf Hitler, and a Sumo Wrestler. Each opponent has themed pieces; for example, when fighting the Pumpkin Head Ghost, both sides use vegetable-themed pieces. In the game, the player's piece types are visible, while the opponent's are hidden. When pieces move to the same square, a battle triggers. Some pieces have a rock-paper-scissors-like advantage over specific types. If neither piece has an advantage, both are removed. Players must deduce the opponent's piece identities by observing their moves and battle results, then use the advantage system to strategize and defeat all of the opponent's pieces. This game was only released in Japan and never launched in other regions.
