Developed by Natsume and published by Taito, *Dungeon & Magic: Sword of the Elements* is a first-person RPG released for the NES in 1989. Set in the Kingdom of Granville, the story follows a young adventurer on a quest to find the Sword of Torres and seal the returning dark lord Darres, who was defeated 500 years prior by the warrior Magi using six magical swords and powerful armor. Players explore towns and dungeons, master elemental magic (wind, fire, water, earth), and battle monsters. The unique magic system lets players combine elemental runes to cast up to 243 spells, with real-time combat requiring strategic use of weapons and magic.
