DuckTales 2 is a 1993 action platformer developed and published by Capcom, adapted from Disney's animated series of the same name. It first launched on the NES, then was ported to the Game Boy handheld the same year.
Players control Scrooge McDuck, who sets off on a quest for lost treasure after his nephews show him a tattered map drawn by his father Fergus McDuck.
The game features five main levels set in Niagara Falls, a Bermuda Triangle pirate ship, the lost continent of Mu, Egypt, and Scotland. Each level has unique treasures and a boss guardian. Players can pick levels freely to hunt for map pieces and hidden loot.
Compared to its predecessor, DuckTales 2 refines gameplay. Scrooge's cane is upgraded: it aids jumping and interacts with the environment—pulling levers, firing cannons, and using spring flowers to cross gaps. Players can revisit completed levels for more coins and items. A cane upgrade system via inventor Gyro Gearloose unlocks new hidden areas.
Though praised for its gameplay and design, it sold less than the first game due to a late NES lifecycle release and limited production.
Overall, DuckTales 2 delivers a fun adventure with vibrant graphics, smooth controls, and rich exploration elements.
