1080° Snowboarding is a ski racing game developed by Nintendo EAD and released for the Nintendo 64 in 1998. Players choose one of five snowboarders, competing in races and performing tricks from a third-person perspective. It features six modes: trick attack, race, time trial, multiplayer, practice, and options. Players use button combos for jumps and tricks across 8 courses, aiming for the fastest time or highest score. There are over 25 tricks, performed via control stick rotations, R button, B button, and other combinations. Development ran from April–May 1997 for about 9 months. It launched in Japan on Feb 28, 1998, North America on Apr 1, and Europe on Nov 30. The game earned widespread acclaim worldwide, winning an Interactive Achievement Award from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. Its success led Nintendo to release the sequel 1080° Avalanche for GameCube in 2003.
