Arithmetic Grades 5-6: Calculation Game is an educational game released by Tokyo Shoseki on October 30, 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). Designed to help 5th and 6th graders build math skills interactively, it covers decimal multiplication/division and fraction addition/subtraction.
It features multiple mini-game modes:
- **Decimal Multiplication**: A side-scrolling shooter where players pilot a spaceship to destroy enemy ships for points. Periodically, the ship lands; players solve decimal multiplication problems while dodging turret fire, and correct answers unlock the next level.
- **Decimal Division**: Similar to decimal multiplication mode, but with decimal division problems.
- **Fraction Addition/Subtraction**: Players control a girl watering seeds in a field to grow red or white flowers. After continuous watering, white flowers turn into balls that must be pushed into numbered baskets to solve fraction problems. Players can use a sprayer to stun field animals temporarily.
- **Fraction Multiplication/Division**: Similar to the fraction addition/subtraction mode, but with fraction multiplication or division problems.
Each mini-game has multiple difficulty levels and supports 2-player alternating play. Through these interactive modes, students can reinforce and improve their math knowledge while having fun.
