Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom is an adventure game developed by Hudson Soft. First released in Japan for PC platforms in 1984, it was later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1988. As a text adventure, players interact with the game world via menu commands like "Examine" and "Give", plus unique options such as "Praise" or "Percy". Percy is a small persimmon character, the hero’s loyal assistant who aids him throughout the adventure. The game features relatively simple puzzles, with story progression driven by talking to characters, finding items, and using them. Set in the peaceful Salad Kingdom, the story follows the evil Pumpkin Minister, who betrays King Broccoli, kidnaps Princess Tomato, and steals the Royal Turnip Emblem. Players take on the role of the brave Mr. Cucumber, embarking on a quest to rescue the princess and restore peace to the kingdom.
