Mega Man 3: The End of Dr. Wily!? is an FC platform action game released by Capcom on September 28, 1990, serving as the third entry in the Mega Man series. In this game, after being defeated by Mega Man, Dr. Wily decides to turn over a new leaf. He partners with Dr. Light to build Gamma, a giant robot for peacekeeping, and sends eight robots to an unknown planet to collect eight energy elements. However, these robots suddenly go rogue during the mission, and Gamma also goes missing. To resolve this crisis, Mega Man sets out to investigate with his support robot dog Rush. The game introduces a new movement skill—sliding—which greatly boosts Mega Man's mobility. Additionally, the new support robot dog Rush can transform into multiple forms to help Mega Man navigate complex terrain. New items are also added, such as the "?" Can, which drops random items when destroyed. The maximum number of E-Tanks a player can hold is increased to 9, and they do not reset even after a game over. In terms of level design, the game features 19 stages, the most in the series. Players need to challenge eight Robot Masters, including Top Man, Magnet Man, Gemini Man, Hard Man, Top Man, Snake Man, Spark Man, and Shadow Man. Each boss has unique attack patterns and weaknesses; after defeating them, Mega Man gains their corresponding special weapons. Mega Man 3 also shows significant improvements in graphics and music, with more detailed level backgrounds and character designs, as well as more dynamic soundtracks that enhance the game's immersion. Overall, Mega Man 3: The End of Dr. Wily!? retains the series' classic gameplay while introducing new mechanics and characters, enriching the content and improving the player experience.
