Mega Man 2: Dr. Wily's Revenge is a platform action game released by Capcom for the NES on December 24, 1988, the second entry in the original Mega Man series. It retains the core gameplay of its predecessor: players control Mega Man to battle the evil Dr. Wily and his eight new Robot Masters. Each boss wields a unique special weapon that players can acquire upon defeat, using it to exploit other bosses' weaknesses—choosing level order is a key strategy. The game adds a password system to save progress, plus Energy Tanks to refill Mega Man's health anytime. Graphics and controls are improved over the first game, and its soundtrack by Takashi Tateishi is widely praised. With over 1.5 million copies sold, it's one of the best-selling Mega Man titles and has been ported to multiple platforms.
