Nobunaga's Ambition: Sengoku Gunyuuden is a historical strategy simulation game released by Koei in December 1988, serving as the third entry in the "Nobunaga's Ambition" series. Initially launched for the PC-88SR platform, it was later ported to multiple systems including the NES, PlayStation, and Sega Saturn. This title first introduced the military commander concept, featuring around 400 historically based Japanese generals. Players take on the role of a feudal lord, expanding their domain through domestic affairs, diplomacy, and military campaigns to ultimately unify Japan. Notably, the maps of the Tohoku and Kyushu regions are excluded from this installment. With significant improvements in strategic depth and historical accuracy, the game was widely loved by players. Its success laid the foundation for subsequent "Nobunaga's Ambition" titles, marking a key milestone in the series' development.
