Napoleon Senki is a real-time strategy game developed by Lenar and released by Irem in Japan on March 18, 1988. Players take on the role of Napoleon Bonaparte, commanding French armies in campaigns across Europe. Presented from a top-down perspective, the game covers multiple historical battles spanning from the French Revolutionary Wars against the Holy Roman Empire in 1796 to the end of the war in 1802. Players must employ late 18th to early 19th-century tactics and properly deploy units like infantry, artillery, and cavalry to achieve the goal of conquering Europe. It also introduces a terrain elevation concept, where mountain height is indicated by color shades and affects battlefield strategy. Before each battle, a situation summary and force comparison between both sides are provided to help players plan their tactics.
