Madden NFL 06 is an American football simulation game launched by EA Sports in 2005, available on multiple platforms including Nintendo DS. As the 16th entry in the franchise, it delivers an authentic NFL gameplay experience with updated rosters, the latest NFL players, new modes, and improved touchscreen controls.
It features various modes such as Exhibition, Full Season, Two-Minute Drill, Practice, and Situation Mode, plus new additions like Franchise Mode, custom leagues, and tournaments. Players can also create custom teams and playbooks. The Mini-Camp mode includes mini-games like kicking, passing, running, tackling, and obstacle courses, all supporting wireless multiplayer.
During gameplay, players select plays via the touchscreen and view real-time play layouts on the bottom screen. New touchscreen controls include a kicking interface where players draw quick, straight lines to determine kick power and accuracy. In standard matches, touchscreen icons for play adjustments, hot routes, and timeouts are added. Players can also pass by tapping the screen, with the quarterback throwing to the tapped location.
The Nintendo DS release of Madden NFL 06 further enriches the franchise’s gameplay, offering players a more realistic and diverse American football simulation.
