King's Knight is a vertical scrolling shooter game developed by Square, first released in Japan in 1986 and launched in North America in 1989. Blending shooting and RPG elements, it features four unique heroes: knight Ray Jack, magician Kaliva, monster Barusa, and thief Toby. Each character acts independently in their own stage, tasked with dodging or defeating on-screen enemies and obstacles while collecting items to level up, with a max level of 20. After clearing their respective stages, the four heroes unite to take on the final level and rescue Princess Olthea, who was kidnapped by the evil dragon Tolfidan. The game was re-released on the Wii Virtual Console in Japan in 2007, and launched on the 3DS platform in 2015. In 2017, Square Enix released a remake titled *King's Knight: Wrath of the Dark Dragon*, which supports up to four-player co-op and introduces new combat systems and characters.
