Joy Mech Fight is an FC fighting game released by Nintendo R&D1 in Japan on May 21, 1993. It features a rich roster of characters and diverse moves, delivering a classic yet fun fighting experience.
The story follows two scientists, Dr. Little Emon and Dr. Ivan Walnuts, who were once close friends working together to build the world’s finest robots. One day, however, Dr. Walnuts takes seven combat robots from the lab and declares his plan to conquer the world. To stop him, Dr. Emon modifies Sukapon, a previously failed comedic robot, to give it combat abilities. Players control Sukapon on their adventure.
The game has four main modes: Story Mode, Player vs. CPU, Player vs. Player, and CPU vs. CPU. In Story Mode, players start with only Sukapon and must defeat the seven robots taken by Dr. Walnuts to restore their consciousness and recruit them. Each defeated character becomes playable in later battles. The game has four major stages with 35 total fights. Eventually, players travel to the moon to face Houou, Dr. Walnuts’ ultimate robot. After winning, Dr. Walnuts regains his sanity and peace returns to the world.
The game has unique character designs: each robot’s head, limbs, and body float independently. This design makes animations smoother, delivering impressive visuals even on the FC platform. Additionally, there are 36 playable characters, each with unique moves and special attacks, boosting replayability and depth.
Overall, Joy Mech Fight offers players an unforgettable fighting game experience with its rich content and innovative design.
