The game stars Colonel Ralf Jones and Second Lieutenant Clark Still, who later appeared in The King of Fighters series. The two protagonists go deep behind enemy lines to fight enemy forces and find the village named "Ikari". Enemies include tanks, soldiers, and helicopters. Players can use various weapons like machine guns and grenades, and have the chance to pilot vehicles such as tanks and helicopters. The game supports two-player co-op, letting players fight side by side with friends for more fun and challenge. Ikari Warriors featured a unique rotary joystick control system for its time, allowing players to move while freely aiming at enemies in different directions. This innovative control method added new gameplay depth.
