Gyromite is a unique action-puzzle game released by Nintendo for the NES in 1985. It is one of only two games made for the R.O.B. (Robotic Operating Buddy) peripheral, alongside Stack-Up. Players control Professor Hector, who must collect all dynamite packs in a lab while avoiding green enemies called Smicks. Hector cannot jump, so players rely on R.O.B. to move red and blue pillars, opening or closing paths to help him progress. The game has two modes: Mode A lets players control Hector to gather dynamite and dodge enemies; in Mode B, Hector sleepwalks, and players use R.O.B. to guide him safely to the exit. Notably, early US Gyromite cartridges contained the Japanese Robot Gyro circuit board, adapted to work with NES consoles via a converter.
