Elevator Action is a classic arcade action game launched by Japan's Taito in 1983. Players take on the role of agent Otto, infiltrating a 30-story building to collect secret files hidden behind red doors and escape successfully. The gameplay centers on elevators and escalators, which players use to move between floors while dodging or defeating enemy agents. Enemies suddenly emerge from closed doors and fire at players, boosting tension. Players can shoot enemies with a pistol or kick them at close range. Shooting ceiling lights plunges floors into temporary darkness to hide movements. The challenge lies in planning routes, gathering all files quickly, and reaching the escape vehicle on the ground floor within the time limit. As the game progresses, more enemies attack more frequently, and elevator systems grow more complex, testing reaction speed and strategy. Thanks to its innovative gameplay and thrilling experience, Elevator Action gained huge popularity upon release and was ported to platforms like the NES and Game Boy. Its success spawned sequels such as *Elevator Action Returns* (1994) and *Elevator Action EX* (2000), which retain the series' classic elements while adding new mechanics and level designs.
